Over the years, it has significantly expanded and, in 2022, the hospital became the first private healthcare provider in Surrey to offer robotic surgery for joint replacements. About Mount Alvernia Hospital

Opened as a nursing home by a group of Franciscan Nuns in 1935, Mount Alvernia will celebrate 90 years of providing healthcare to the Surrey community in 2025. Over the years, it has significantly expanded and it became the first private healthcare provider in Surrey to offer robotic surgery for joint replacements in 2022.

The hospital provides a wide range of acute elective and urgent surgical and medical services for adult patients on an outpatient, day-case or inpatient basis.

Mount Alvernia is accredited with BUPA for Breast Care, Bowel Care and Living Well with Cancer, has a 5* Macmillan Quality Environment Mark outcome and is rated Good by the CQC.  

Over 200 consultants see patients from the hospital's spacious outpatient consultation rooms. Their patients rate them highly, as reflected in their 4.8* Google review ranking and their overall feedback scores: in their most recent survey, 99.4% of patients said that the quality of their care was either good or excellent and 99% of patients said their overall experience of the hospital's service was good or very good.

Mount Alvernia also has a resident medical officer (RMO) who is available 24 hours a day to ensure that patients are safe and cared for at all times.
