Experts from different medical fields can work together to improve people's smiles, it has been revealed.
Dr Seth Thaller, a past president of the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons (ASMS), revealed that smile rejuvenation procedures require a "team approach to take the patient's smile to the next level".
He revealed: "Plastic surgeons can work in conjunction with
dentists or
orthodontists to give patients the sparkling, full and shapely smile they desire."
Dr Thaller was speaking at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (Asps) and ASMS Plastic Surgery 2008 conference in Chicago.
Also speaking at the conference was current ASMS president Dr Andrew Wexler.
Dr Wexler suggested that smile rejuvenation has come a long way from the days when only scalpels and sutures were available to surgeons.
"Today, lasers, injectable fillers, fat and Botox have opened a new frontier of possibilities," he revealed.
