About Ewa Majdak-Paredes

In her NHS practice, Ewa regularly undertakes complex reconstructive surgery of the breast, body and face. She also works closely with various multidisciplinary teams across NHS Lothian. She has been in private practice since 2018 and has strong interest and experience in all aspects of aesthetic surgery as well. She has been certified in cosmetic surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She is an active member of BAAPS, BAPRAS and ASPS. She is currently a Clinical Director for Plastic, Burns and Hand Surgery in NHS Lothian.

After graduating from medical school, Ewa completed a 4-year PhD program in human genetics investigating the genetic basis of breast cancer syndromes that affect so many women. She was granted a prestigious Marie Curie PhD Scholarship to undertake this work.
 
Ewa then spent over 10 years in general and plastic surgery accredited training in London, Birmingham, Dundee and Edinburgh. She then undertook fellowships in breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery in Edinburgh, Chelmsford and Canada.

She has published extensively in the field of breast cancer genetics, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. She regularly speaks at national and international conferences.
 
Outside medicine, Ewa is a mother of 3, an amateur artist and believes in the therapeutic powers of art, healthy lifestyle and mindfulness.

Ewa is registered as a treating consultant with various private health insurers and routinely treats patients whose treatment is covered, e.g. skin lesions, skin cancer with reconstruction if required and bilateral therapeutic mammaplasty alongside the breast surgeons.

Ewa is a member of TMLEP, an independent clinical practice specialising in providing specialist medico-legal services to leading UK clinical negligence Defence and Claimant law firms.

Research interests

Ewa has published widely in plastic surgery, breast surgery and clinical genetics journals and has acted as a journal reviewer. She has presented and lectured on national and international conferences and courses.
