Muyiwa Owoniyi: Consultant Ophthalmologist in Shrewsbury
Mr Muyiwa Owoniyi is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Newmedica, one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist eyecare.
As well as providing treatment for all general ophthalmic conditions, he has a particular interest in the medical, laser and surgical management of glaucoma, complex cataract surgery and high-volume cataract surgery. Mr Owoniyi qualified in medicine from the University of Birmingham and undertook his specialist ophthalmology training in the Wales deanery. He worked as an education fellow at the Imperial College NHS Trust and Western Eye Hospital in London and, prior to taking up his consultant post, completed the prestigious glaucoma surgical fellowship programme at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. In addition to his role at Newmedica, Mr Owoniyi is the lead consultant for glaucoma at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust. He is actively involved in the education and supervision of students and glaucoma practitioners and is a lecturer at the University of Keele.
