Mr Andrew Bruce: Hip and Knee Specialist in Doncaster

Training and experience

Mr Bruce graduated in medicine from the University of Sheffield in 1993. He undertook his basic surgical training in South Yorkshire, followed by specialist orthopaedic training in Durham, Whitehaven and on the South Trent rotation based in Leicester. He completed his training with a hip surgery fellowship in Coventry, where he learned advanced techniques in complex primary hip replacement surgery and all aspects of revision hip surgery.

Mr Bruce was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2006. He is an honorary Defence Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon and has over 30 years of service in the reserve forces holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has undertaken two tours of Afghanistan at Camp Bastion Field Hospital.

Expertise

Mr Bruce’s primary areas of practice are hip and knee replacement surgery and revision hip surgery. He also has a particular interest and expertise in the assessment and treatment of Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome (GTPS) and Trochanteric Bursitis.
