Mr Scott MacInnes: Shoulder and Elbow Specialist in Doncaster
Based at The Coriel Clinic in Doncaster, Mr Scott MacInnes is a fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon offering expert treatment for the full range of conditions affecting the shoulder and elbow, including sports injuries, rotator cuff tears, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow.
Training and experience
Mr MacInnes studied medicine at the Universities of St Andrews and Manchester, graduating in 2003. He completed his basic surgical training in the North West of England, going on to undertake higher surgical training in South Yorkshire in 2008.
Mr MacInnes undertook two specialty fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery in Perth, Western Australia, working with internationally renowned surgeons. This provided him with the opportunity to be trained in the latest arthroscopic (keyhole) and open surgical techniques and to be involved in complex cases, including complex upper limb trauma. He also gained experience with world leaders in tendon healing. He was awarded a PhD by the University of Sheffield for his research examining the role that genetics plays in the failure of orthopaedic joint replacements in 2017.
Mr MacInnes is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He was recently appointed as the Royal College of Surgeons specialty tutor for orthopaedics at his Trust and is the lead for all postgraduate training in the department.

Research interests
Mr MacInnes was awarded a PhD for his work into the genetic contribution to joint replacement failure from the University of Sheffield in 2017 and has presented both nationally and internationally. His research work has been recognised with the presentation of several awards, including the prestigious Otto Aufranc Award, and he has been invited to speak internationally on orthopaedic prosthetic failure. He continues to play an active role in research and is a scientific reviewer for the official journal of the British Shoulder and Elbow Society, Shoulder & Elbow.
