Training and experience

Mr Abiddin received his medical degree with honours from the University of Nagpur, India in 1989 and received the ‘best student award’. He went on to gain a master’s degree in orthopaedics in India before moving to the UK and undertaking his specialist orthopaedics training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the Mersey Deanery. He was awarded a master’s degree (MCh Orth) from the University of Liverpool and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003.

Mr Abiddin completed his specialist Foot and Ankle surgery training at the Wrightington Hospital in Wigan, a world-renowned Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal Centre of Excellence.  He also developed his skills and experience on a visiting fellowship in Maryland, USA.

Mr Abiddin was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2010. He subsequently became the lead Foot and Ankle Surgeon and established the department’s Foot and Ankle service.

Mr Abiddin has an active interest in medical education and training. He is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Orthopaedics at the University of Sheffield and teaches surgical trainees at all levels with a particular focus on the higher surgical trainees.
