I suffered terrible lesions on my face for a number of years. I saw x2 dermatologists, had x6 skin peels plus several visits to my GP, all to no avail. After speaking to several of my healthcare colleagues, I referred myself to Dr Jane Rosbotham- Consultant Dermatologist. I was relieved to receive a swift diagnosis and plan of action.

I highly recommend her and would advise anybody who suffers relentless trips to the GP without results, go to see Jane Rosbotham.

Mr Nick Little is a Consultant Orthopaedic shoulder and upper limb surgeon and I now believe is an expert in the contemporary treatment of the genetic Dupuytren’s Contracture remedial treatment. His description of the processes were very accurate. A lot is down to initial pain management of establishing anaesthetic by local injection, but any discomfort is a limited number of seconds, but, nevertheless is memorable, but not unpleasant.



The result was amazing. Mr Little’s procedures achieved “reconditioned” fingers as straight as the others on the left hand. Subsequent use of a night splint is, I think, important and that is not invasive. In my case, I needed one treatment of physiotherapy with some DIY exercises, which are important in support of Mr Little’s work.



At the appropriate point at which it becomes necessary, I would not put off the treatment. The actual op under local anaesthetic is no more than 30 minutes. The support hospital nursing team was excellent. The facilities were compatible. Well done Nick Little, equally Ashtead Hospital/Ramsay.

Asked to fast before hand, arrived at 5 as requested. Room 111 has no airconditionng or fan and was extremely hot.Waited until 715, no information what so ever until I rang. Poor customer service, and the ventilation of the waiting area terrible. Good medical treatment however!

I was admitted 1.00 pm on Tuesday 4th April and taken down for my operation at 5.00pm. The level of care and attention once entering the hospital was excellent. Consultant and anaesthetist both came to see me and explained exactly what I could expect. Everything went well and I was back in my room by 5.15.



The consultant and anaesthetist both visited to see how I was within a couple of hours. Nursing care was faultless and they were very attentive.



I left on the Friday, a bit battered and bruised, but happy that the treatment and procedure were first class. I would not hesitate to use Ashtead again.

I got 2 rounds of awful sandwiches. Plain white bread with cheese & boiled egg.

Previously they had a sandwich menu with a very good choice of bread & fillings.

Very disappointed especially as I was a private patient.

Arrived for my scan to find that someone had turned up early and the guy had given them my slot ! only then to be told that they could not fit me in on the day as they couldn't change my appointment at short notice ! Absolute joke.They gave someone else my slot and then wouldn't give me the other persons slot as that would be against procedures !!!! To top it all the guy (Bobby) was rude and dismissive and rather than apologising for his mistake disappeared into his room mid conversation,Unbelievable,perhaps NHS would be better option.

The nurses and assistants on the second floor inpatient wards were, on the whole, superb - as were the catering staff. The food was also very good. Physiotherapists were exceptionally professional and very caring. The doctors and consultants with whom I had contact were also competent, caring, and helpful. What needs to be improved is communication regarding test and consultant appointments; more than once a porter came to my room to escort me to an appointment I didn't know I had and about which ward staff had no information.

In sum, my positive experience at Ashtead was all about the people. Certain systems and processes could be improved.

Saw consultant on a Saturday. Was advised I needed to book an MRI Scan. MRI Unit was closed, I was advised that I would receive a call Monday AM to arrange an appointment. I CALLED Monday PM 13.30 advised was awaiting for radiologist to look at it I would be called that afternoon. I WAS NOT CALLED! so I called again Tuesday PM 15:30 was told they are short staffed. RAMSEY Healthcare this is unacceptable, through my insurance this is what I am paying for? To be cast aside ignored, disregarded. I am dreadfully unhappy about the level of service and will opt for another private healthcare provider in the future.

The absence of frilly interiors was positively reassuring that this hospital was all about quality of care, patient safety and treatment outcomes which is what I valued above all else. All credit to Martin Bircher for choosing to practice at The Ashtead. Coming from A&E as a RTA victim, nothing could have been more welcoming that seeing him and being there!

This was my second visit to The Ashtead Hospital under Dr Shakhil Rahman with issues around the chest infection and Asthma. I first met Dr RahmaIn after breast cance, surgical complications in November 2008.I truly believe I would not be where I am today without his amazing brand of holistic care he provides for myself and my family.
I then had the misfortune to have a sking accident in March 2011 when I needed a surgical plate implanted in August 2011 and removed in January 2012. On this occasion I used Mr Cobb at the Ashtead Hospital. At all visits the staff from reception, to doctors, porters to radiographers, to domestics, nursing staff to secretaries have treated myself and my family with the utmost respect and dignity. Their teamwork is amazing. As a manager and a tutor/trainer in Health and Social care this gives me a total unique and qualified perspective of the Ashtead Hospital Experience. I would give them all 6 stars if I could. Thank you to them all. Jan Woolgar and Family

For reasons that are unclear, I have had problems with hip replacements. The first was performed at Epsom in November 2009, but the NHS could not schedule the second, unplanned operation so close to Christmas. The second was performed at Ashtead in December 2009 necessitating an unplanned stay over Christmas. I am sure the surgeon and anaethetist would have preferred to have been at home during an evening a couple of day before Christmas.! The hospital was almost devoid of other patients but the catering staff laid on an excellent Christmas lunch for my family and me. I am now recovering from a third hip replacement! As I said, the resons are unclear, but the device used has been failing at a significant rate, and a decison was taken to replace for a third time. Once again, I have only praise for the surgeon, anaethetist, physiotherapists and in particular for the nursing staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble. It is worth noting that many of the nurses were those that had looked after me a year before. I just hope that I don't have reason to see them all again!

I was involved in a very serious road traffic accident and I have been admitted in several hospitals to do my surgeries and rehabilitation. Ashtead hospital really stands out amongst all those hospitals as my favorite one. The teams of nurses, physiotherapists, doctors, porters and catering staff made my stay a very comfortable one indeed. It felt like being at home but with professional and efficient medical treatment. I am particularly grateful to the nurses who were always available and concerned about my pain. It would be too long to name them all at the 2nd Floor they know who they are (Dear Sister Helen please say hello to them all..) and I am forever indebted to them for their patience, sense of humour and kindness. I was also very lucky to have found at Ashtead an outstanding physiotherapists department; for me they went far beyond the call of duty to make me walk again this is also something I will never forget (Thank you Fiona, Sue and team!). Finally I know that all this was masterminded brilliantly by Mr Bates, his staff and top surgeons who must certainly be counted amongst the best in with a world class reputation (believe me looking at my X Rays) such as Mr Bircher. At Ashtead everybody cares&
