Everything went very well. All staff were, as you would expect, very professional but also very friendly - nothing was too much trouble and they kept me informed before, during and after my operation.

Excellent choice of food, well cooked and well presented and good sized portions. My only "complaint" - they only had Rich Tea biscuits, Custard Creams, Bourbons or Chocolate Digestives would have been nice.

A chronic sufferer from my mid 20s, I've experienced 3 previous related surgical procedures conducted under general anaesthetic(GA): injections, banding (ouch) and "4711" surgical removal (ouch). This has been by far the easiest experience.



The surgeon and anaesthetist thoroughly briefed me. I experienced little discomfort; so I guess they did a super job (I am unable to view the results, you understand!).



I was thoroughly prepared for all post-operative contingencies and provided with pain-management medicines. Nursing staff were very supportive and patient throughout and took every opportunity to see to my welfare and care.



I have only one minor quibble with the service provided. As a day-care patient I was offered a sandwich as a post-operative snack. After a GA one's throat is bone-dry and it is very difficult to swallow something as dry as a sandwich, no matter how fresh and appetising (and, in fairness, it was). Moist food, such as soup and salad would be easier to swallow. A little challenge for the Nutritionist then...... On the other hand there was plenty to drink, juices, tea, coffee etc.

I only was here for a day and was treated very well. Everything was explained to me clearly, right from the time of arrival. Hospital is clean and did not smell like a hospital at all (ie disinfectant smell) which puts me off going to hospitals. It was warm, bright and cosy

The only thing I must say is that I had to wait quite a bit for my meds to arrive before I could leave the hospital.

Very welcoming hospital. My consultant is outstanding, immediately put me at ease. His secretary was there so I could ask any additional questions afterwards on the phone.

Sadly 4 days before my procedure I had to chase my pre-op assessment and paperwork.

Then 48 hrs prior to my procedure the ward called and told me the wrong fasting instructions. Luckily I had spoken to the Secretary 2 weeks prior so I knew what to expect. I called the ward back to be told no I was using a local anaesthetic injection not a general.

I asked them again to read my notes and it changed to sorry you are using a general you need to fast.

I was given no information about what to bring in with me clothing wise. Luckily I had a different procedure 3 weeks prior in a different hospital so used that list.

The sandwiches were really soggy too and an odd combination to eat at 10am.

The ward staff were very welcoming and all staff apart from the mix ups before were fantastic. They couldn't do enough for you.

Had my knee replaced in the Berkshire independant. The treatment and aftercare I recived was second to none and i would definalty recomend to anyone who is looking for 1st class service.
All the staff fom the consultants, to the cleaners are very caring and professional.
It was more like staying in a high class hotel rather than a hospital.
The meals were excellent as was my room and all the facilities.
well done to everyone who works there. Keep up the great work.

Absolutely fantastic from initial consultation/operation/after care/and weight loss results. Staff are fabulous and very caring. Everything is explained to you. You are a person not a number. Nothing is too much trouble ever.The consultants are absolutely lovely/approachable you feel like you are talking to your best friend. No pressure just advice on what they think would be best for your problems. I had come to a stage in my life where I was quickly reaching big problem areas in my health. Now I feel like I have been given a second chance at life. I can walk miles/steps arn't an issue/not on insulin anymore in fact I might be lucky and end up not diabetic anymore/no fybromyalgia 100% fitter healthier and happier thanks to The Berkshire Independent Hospital and a little faith in my decision. Best money I have EVER spent on myself.

From the moment I arrived, feeling very scared and apprehensive, I was treated with the utmost care and made to feel as relaxed as I possibly could be. All the medical and nursing staff were fantastic, and the care given both prior to and following the operation excellent. The room was lovely, everyone looked after you and everything was very clean.I would have no hesitation in recommending the hospital to anyone - a dreaded hospital stay was far better than I could have imagined.
