My treatment at the Winfield was amazing, from the consultation to the pre admission tests I was treated with dignity. On admission, which was very quick, I was shown to my room which was like a hotel room. The nursing staff put me at my ease immediately. The surgeon explained what would happen during and after my surgery and that it would be an overnight stay. On return to my room I was looked after so well by the nursing staff. The surgeon visited me and checked my condition, his calm approach and bedside manner must be mentioned as it was so good. The food was amazing and served on china plates. Drinks were regularly offered to me. The whole experience was so good.. I cannot recommend this hospital enough.

I was operated on by Mr Shah earlier this year. The severity of the planned back surgery was causing me great concern but Mr Shah was absolutely incredible from start to finish. His calm and personable manner was totally reassuring and his explanation of the treatment was detailed but simple enough for me to understand My pre-op and hospital stay was excellent and I cannot thank Winfield Hospital enough from the anaesthetist down to the team that delivered tea and biscuits post-op. The nursing staff were excellent and Mr Shah's secretary always helpful. Thank you Mr Shah and team; I am well into my recovery now and I cannot adequately express how grateful I am to you all. Mr Shah, thank you, you have given me a new lease of pain-free life and opportunity.and I will always be extremely grateful for your help, professionalism and incredible surgical skills.

I had been advised that having having large and heavy breasts was agrivating my rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. It was not an option on the NHS to have the operation so we decided to go private. This was my first time ever in a private hospital and I was not disappointed. Mr Thomas Chapman, my Consultant was excellent, he filled me with confidence helping me through the decision process of what was quite a traumatic operation. The ward staff were brilliant too. I was seen in the OPD mainly by Staff Nurse Diane Meadows and the OPD Manager Leigh who were superb. Their patience, care consideration kindness were second to none. They saw me through what could have been a difficult time and I can’t thank them enough. It was a big decision to have this operation not only financially but physically and emotionally and I felt supported the whole time.

My experience has been positive from the initial enquiry, through to post operative follow-up.



The consultant Mr.U.Kahn provided clear information regarding the surgery and recovery.

His surgical expertise was never in question, the result has exceeded my expectations. I have been fortunate in not experiencing many of the potential problems, in no small part due to the excellent care I have received from medical and nursing staff.

The recovery nurses were kind and supportive at that most vulnerable of times. The ward staff continued the high standard of care and communication, which has been followed up by the excellent out-patient nurses. Any concerns have been addressed professionally and most of all with compassion, I have felt safe at all times and this has enabled a smooth recovery. I have no hesitation in recommending family and friends to your organisation. Thank you to all those involved with my care.

I arrived in the room where there was no gown, no pillows, no towels and no complimentary Moltan Brown. The first day after the operation was fine but when I asked if I could spend a second night because I felt so unwell that's when the issues started. Although my consultant was happy for me to stay, the night staff could be heard from my room commenting as to how I was treating it like a hotel, and the drugs etc would mean serious issues with the budget allocated to me. I self funded this operation and it wasn't cheap. I was made to feel I was in the way. There were other issues but too personal to go into on here. I also rang up a week later as my wound was seeping and the ward nurse said I shouldn't be talking to them. However the receptionist had tried outpatients with no Success. I got better advice and help from a local chemist. I am totally dismayed as to how the post op night ward care and gossiping made me feel. I will not be recommending this hospital and will go to my consultants other bases for aftercare.

I was very nervous about having this procedure but Mr Whittaker (consultant) and outpatient nurses (Jan and Lorraine) were brillant. Very caring and everything was explained to me. The actual procedure was a little uncomfortable but I am glad I didnt have to have a general anaesthetic and it was so quick! Thank you.

The brochure before admittance said I would receive all towels, complimentary selection of Molton Brown toiletries and a member of staff would visit me daily to discuss menu choice from an a la carte menu. I received non of these things.



My bathroom had only a hand towel and soap dispenser on the wall. A member of staff on arrival asked me what I'd like to eat on return from surgery, but it was only after I had to beg for food at 3pm that a sandwich was eventually found. I expressed by concern that no-one had asked me for my requirements for an evening meal - but nothing further happened and it was only at 5.30 when doing my post op checks that a nurse followed up and tried to organise me some food.

A lady appeared with an a la carte menu and then said she might be able to get the chef to rustle up an omelette before he left for the day at 6pm. Not at all impressed!! I had to make a very quick selection from the menu and she did manage to bring we what I'd ordered - but I felt she was unapologetic for the error. Not the service I'd expected!



I was also not impressed with the physiotherapist who made a brief appearance before my operation and said she'd be back to give me some post op exercises to do immediately and to continue at home. I never saw her again



The nursing staff were very pleasant and friendly, but the room, facilities and hospitality fell very short of what had been promised in the Premium Care brochure I had been sent

From start to finish the Winfield Hospital team (consultants, doctors, nurses, admin and catering staff) took great care of my every need. They immediately made me feel welcome and ensured I had everything I'd need for my stay. After meeting my consultant and anaesthetist I was soon into theater and back in my private room. My room was of a very high standard and had all the facilities found in a good hotel room. Nursing staff ensured I was comfortable throughout whilst the catering staff served an excellent standard of refreshments and meals. Everyone demonstrated a pride in their work and put the patient (me) first everytime.

Having been extremely nervous, I was quickly put at ease. On discharge I went home confident and well informed of any necessary aftercare that needed to be carried out. All the staff involved in my care (medical and otherwise) were caring, helpful and professional and I felt as if my recovery was important to them. Such a positive atmosphere helps with recovery. The room was pleasantly appointed, clean and practical, but would have benefitted from a walk in shower, not an over the bath shower (inaccessible for hip replacement patients!). This is the second time I have undergone treatment at this hospital and I would be happy to use it again. The physiotherapy dept I am attending for post-op care has been very helpful so far.

Some ensuites have showers, others baths - not useful for knee operations! Catering is reasonable, could do with upgrading coffee and tea; but drinks are always available.

I had an overnight stay for surgery on the 13th October 2010. On arrival everyone from the reception staff to the lady who showed me to my room and the nursing staff treated me in a most professional and caring way, explaining the facilities available during my stay and the surgical procedure that I was going to have. The anaethetist's and surgeon's visits to me before the operation were also professional, answered any questions I had, and put my mind at ease. The operation took place at the expected time, and some light hearted banter with the theatre staff went down well with me. In the recovery room the nursing care was first class as was the nursing care back on the ward. The meals were also very good. The people who work at Winfield hospital always have a smile on their faces and seem to enjoy their jobs. I had the need to attend the hospital at very short notice for a post operative issue that I had and I was most appreciative that my surgeon, Mr. Vipond, made time to see me the same day. I cannot fault the overall standard of care of the Winfield hospital and of ALL the people that dealt with me during my stay,
