I am writing in advance of my surgery. I wanted to mention how kind and helpful Susan Mi, the nurse who carried out my ECG and covid test today. I was very anxious but she put me at ease and even had me laughing which relaxed me and cheered me up.

Poor Service from Glasgow (aged 45 yrs) treated for Still waiting.....

I was referred to this hospital as an AXA Private Patient after a year of lower back pain which didn't get better with physio. The referral was made in June 2019, and I had to wait three weeks for an appointment. I saw a consultant on 8th July and a scan was arranged for the 20th July. I had to return later that day for a second scan as the radiologist scanned the incorrect area initially. I phoned that week for a follow-up appointment and was told the earliest they could give me was the 20th of August but that the consultant was trying to fit in another clinic and would call me. I heard nothing for a week and when I called back in, the earliest appointment I could then get was 27th August, which I duly booked. I then received a letter telling me that my appointment for 3rd September had been changed to the 5th September due to unavoidable circumstances. I saw the consultant on the 5th to be told the diagnosis, that there was nothing more he could do and that he would refer me on to a pain management doctor. He was dictating notes before I had left the room. Two weeks on and I have heard nothing yet again. To be waiting three months on from the initial referral with still no treatment path, as a private patient I feel very let down by this hospital and their service.

GP was concerned about hard mass in my breast. Said it would need to be checked urgently. He emailed Nhs clinic. My urgent appointment came in for 3and a half weeks later. Decided to go to Ross Hall. Got an appointment the following day. Mammogram and ultrasound done within 30 minutes. Two cysts drained. What a relief!! Staff so friendly and professional. Can't fault Ross Hall in any way.

I can only praise the care and attention that i received from the whole medical team at Ross Hall hospital. Dr A Patterson has given me my life back and i cannot thank him and his team enough (my hero). Dr Mackin for making my pain manageable and to the unsung heroes the fantastic nurses (to many to mention) the catering and cleaning staff thank you all very much.

I recently attended Ross Hall for two operations. The first went well. The second did not go so well. After major surgery, I was given pain killers, I was not told that these pain Killers could make me sick by the nurse, and I was let go, to go home. On the way home I was sick in the car. I phoned to complain, but got the response " it states in the leaflet with the packet that these pain killers can cause sickness". When you've just had surgery a few hours earlier, reading the leaflet is not on your mind, also the nurse gave me the pain killers to take with water. In my mind the nurse should have said something to me about the side effects. However they were insensitive to this and then asked me to pay for the pain killers, since it seems my health care provider does not pay for medication received from the hospital pharmacy. Apparently its in the small print of the forms you sign upon arrival. In addition to the pain killers, I was given paracetamol which cost £3.00 ( cost at the supermarket is 50 pence). I was told by Ross Hall BMI accounts department, that £3 was cheap, its usually £7 for parecetamol. Between the two visits, my health provider paid Ross hall almost £6000.00, and I had to pay just under £10.00. It also cost me £52 to get the car cleaned. The issue was not the £10.00 , but the way I was treated by the hospital itself and above all the Ross Hall accounts department. Totally insensitive. My advice is beware of hidden costs and the way in which your treated as just a piece of meat. I have to say that the consultant was excellent, and the quality of care was good to average (second time), but the administrative side is extremely poor.
