I found the quality of care very good. The staff put me at ease, explained the procedure and answered my questions. The Newcastle under Lyme clinic is efficient and comfortable, with minimal waiting time. Although the treatment is less invasive than stripping (which I have also experienced), it is still surgery so bruising and some discomfort should be expected. Several months after treatment (which included the follow up foam injection) the bruising has mostly gone - as have 80% of the treated veins. I do have skin numbness over several squre inches due to nerve damage which is improving slowly. I experienced a similar problem with stripping 10 years earlier which has never fully recovered. I'm glad I used Veincentre and recommend my surgeon Dr David West and his team.

The procedure is over before you have time to worry about it and is relatively painless. the results are amazing, I had what I described as the river Thames running up my leg and now it has all completely gone. I had varicose veins on both legs and they got increasingly worse during my 20s to the point where I wouldn't wear skirts, tight trousers, go swimming, wear a bikini on a beach etc. They were also quite painful and made my legs feel heavy. My local private hospital quoted around £5000 for removal which put me off having it done. This year I enquired at Veincentre and was impressed with their reviews and price. I had the EVLA treatment in April and noticed a difference straight away. The lumpy veins have gone. I've just had my follow consultation and had a few more injections. I couldn't recommend this enough to anyone suffering with varicose veins. Get your confidence back!

From the first call I was impressed with the friendly efficient service I received. The initial appointment was arranged quickly and the reception was friendly and professional. Dr West was obviously very experienced and knowledgeable and suggested EVLT could assist with my condition. This procedure was remarkably straight forward and painless and the mild discomfort that followed over the next week or so caused me no real inconvenience. The main symptoms of my varicose veins were aching and itching and this has been addressed fully...fantastic! A single, totally painless, foam sclerotherapy injection was given on my follow up appointment and this appears to be working to reduce the appearance of the veins in my leg.Throughout the process Dr West and his excellent staff were friendly and attentive, totally alleviating any concerns. I even got to choose the background music during the procedure!
I am really scraping the barrel to pick fault with any part of the process and the only criticism I can think of is that there didn't appear to be anywhere to hang or store my clothing or belongings during the examination and procedure.
Overall I am more than happy with the service provided and the results achieved. Many thanks

So one week on from treatment to the GSV and the SSV, basically two veins being lasered, one leg only, the surgeon and Amy the assistant were excellent, first vein was treated whilst I lay on my front, only pain is from the local anaesthetic as you have to have several injections to numb firstly the entry point and then the length of the vein, by no means painful though. Various tugging and pulling is evident but not painful.
I then turned and repeated the procedure for my other vein on the same leg, little bit more painful as this is nearer the shin area.
Discomfort for a couple of days fetr but now just mild bruising left.
I'm a little disappointed I havent seen a greater lessening of the veins but they are absorbed by the body over a number of weeek so its very early. I am sure they are fading and certainly dont have the bulging bits that were there previously.

My leg feels lighter and definately better. I'm looking forward to the next procedure to remove the thread veins I have in 5 weeks time.

Only reason for non 5 starts is that its still too early to see results.

Wouldnt hesitate to have this treatment again if needed.

Was able to get a cab to the station and then get the train home with no problems.

If you are like me and had treatment on your veins in the 80's or 90's then you might also be like me, in not being ready to put yourself through it again. General anaesthetic, un-interested doctors, weeks of discomfort and real pain. Well times have changed and I have thoroughly and pleasantly surprised with every aspect of my treatment under Dr West and the laser surgery itself. If you think about a procedure no worse than getting a few jabs for your summer holiday you have the right level of discomfort in mind. After the procedure the recovery time is incredible, I was on my bike for a 20K ride 2 days after the treatment and honestly only waited that long because it didn’t seem right. Varicose vein treatment, welcome to the 21st century

I thought about having this procedure done for quite a while but the prices were prohibitive. Then I came across The Vein Centre and their prices made it a more realistic proposition to me.

I have seen much worse looking veins than mine but nevertheless wanted something done so that I could wear shorts when playing golf and also on holiday not feel so self-conscious in shorts and trunks.

I booked in for the consultation and duly went along. I found it all very friendly and informal. The examination was carried out by Mr West and a price quoted. Despite my very real concerns about the procedure, I decided to proceed.

On the journey to the clinic for the procedure the reservations kicked in. This was almost certainly driven by my longstanding fear of injections. Focusing on the potential results I fought the strong instinct to leave it.

Upon arrival at the clinic I was alarmed to find out that despite my feeling that I have seen much worse veins in other people, in fact the underlying work I required was quite substantial. The description was ‘gross’ which surprised me but apparently this is the medical term for quite a severe problem. Four valves needed attention in one leg and three in the other. This had passed me by in the consultation and thinking that I would only need to be treated for a short time; in fact I was on the table for a full hour.
Music of my choice was played during the procedure and a steady conversation went on to distract me from focusing on what was happening. My concern was unfounded as despite me needing quite a lot of work it was not at all bad!!! I have had more painful experiences at the dentist, honestly!

In January I went back for the second part of the treatment which was the foam injections. This time I was less concerned about what was to happen despite my fear of needles. My relaxed attitude for this was well founded as the nurse injected the veins in one leg. Nothing was required in the other.

It’s now the end of February and my legs are getting better week by week. The injected veins are discoloured (like bruising) and gradually disappearing. The process is still ongoing but at this stage I am very pleased with the results.

A long winded review but I was very concerned about it all at the start. If I had to have it done again it wouldn’t worry me one bit. A good decision to have it done and a good decision in terms of which company and individuals I chose to do it.

There is only one reason that I don't give 5 stars for outcome of treatment. This is because the final results are not yet fully clear and if this is to be a truly objective review then I can only judge this when sufficient time has passed.

If you would like it done and can afford it, don't hesitate!!!!

Absolutely fantastic result. Underwent EVLA treatment in October 2013. Virtually pain free. The results from this treatment were great. Had to wait a little longer to have the follow up foam sclerotherapy as I had a holiday in Mexico booked but this was finally done in early January 2014 and this was completely pain free. My legs feel great now and I can wear shorts again without people pointing and staring at my lumps and bumps. My veins were not bothering me so it was for cosmetic reasons I had it done. They were making me self conscience, however, and I rarely wore shorts even on holiday. I am so glad I had the procedure done now and did not wait until they were bothering me. I would recommend this procedure to anyone with varicose veins. I would like to thank Dr David West and his assistant for their excellent and professional treatment. If you have unsightly veins, act now, don't wait, you will not regret it. I wish I had it done years ago.
PS: You also get a pair of sexy black support stockings to wear for three weeks after the treatment. I would advise buying a second pair to change with as they have to be worn continuously for the three weeks!

Why go through the trauma of having general surgery when the Veincentre can treat your veins in a simple, quick and practically painless way? Dr West has great expertise and has is very gentle, reassuring manner. I had EVLA treatment on both legs which was much less painful than expected, followed by sclerotherapy at the 6 week check up, which was carried out by his nurse very expertly - again with very little discomfort. You will be in safe hands and your money well spent

My consultation, treatment and follow up were easy to book. The procedure was exactly as described and staff were friendly, professional and caring throughout.
The discomfort I experienced during the 24-48 hours after treatment was greater than I had anticipated and if I had not taken a couple of days off work I am not sure I would have been able to return to work straight away.
I am pleased with the results and would recommend Veincentre to anybody considering varicose vein treatment.

I wish to express my gratitude and delight at how unintrusive, quick and painless the whole process, from start to finish, was.
Everything possible was done to make me feel welcome, valued and to put me at my ease, in what is invariably a slightly stressful situation. The detailed information pack I received beforehand, plus the overwhelming reassuring attitude and manner of Dr West and his two nursing assistants was exemplary.
The procedure is undoubtedly preferable to a general anaesthetic and overnight stay in hospital!
Now my bottom half is done I just need a face-lift to
make my wife's life complete!
I am happy to recommend Dr West and the clinic to all my friends.
It went like clockwork and I wish I'd had it done years ago!

I cannot recommend highly enough. David West and team provide an excellent service at a very reasonable price. Do not get ripped off by others charging twice or three times the price. There is no evidence that price is related to quality of care in private health in the UK. Other providers deliberately create more complexity than necessary. eg An initial Consultation and THEN return for another appointment for the Ultrasound scan. Why cant they be combined like Dr West does? A: So they can charge more for multiple appointments. eg One surgeon in Kingston: £200 for the Consultation then £250 per leg for the ultrasound. (Yes, you read that right...£250 PER LEG!!!! It is only a scan for goodness sake!) That is £750 spent BEFORE you start any treatment! Then they charge you an extortionate amount for the treatment itself. One TIP: If you go to the provider's website and there are no prices listed, BE VERY WARY!!!
