The Independent Doctors Federation (IDF) have appointed Sue Smith as the new interim CEO, following the decision of Fiona Merrick to retire this year.

IDF President, Peter King-Lewis said “I am delighted to announce that Sue Smith has been appointed interim CEO of the IDF. Sue will be joining us on 21st March, working alongside Fiona for a month's handover period and will officially take up her new role at this year's AGM on 21st April when Fiona steps down.  Sue will be known to some of you already as she worked for many years as CEO of the Princess Grace Hospital in London before leaving to set up her own consultancy firm, Susan Smith Associates. During her time at The Princess Grace Hospital Sue also sat on IDF Council from 2004-2009 as the Corporate Sponsor Representative to Council.

I am sure you will all join me in wishing Fiona a very happy retirement and welcoming Sue Smith on board."
