Consultants, staff and key referrers of The London Orthopaedic Clinic battled it out in a Central London gym on Sunday 15th April as part of the inaugural Super Sprint Triathlon to raise funds for the charity Help for Heroes.
The competition was inspired by the care received by a colleague’s son who was injured in Afghanistan in 2010. The support he received immediately and in the twelve months that followed would not have been possible without the funds raised by Help for Heroes and was invaluable to his rehabilitation.
Inspired to support this worthy cause, the Clinic teamed up with The Third Space gym who kindly donated the facilities for competitors to complete the three round event (4km swim, 10km cycle and 2.5km run). All competitors entered into the spirit of the ‘sprint’ with some fantastic overall times recorded. The individual champion was Sasha Bladt - Cohen, recording a total event time of 34.18 and the team competition victors were Portland Physiotherapy, coming home in an impressive 36.40.
As a musculoskeletal specialist centre which caters for sports injuries, fractures and orthopaedic trauma whilst also offering a full rehabilitation service, The London Orthopaedic Clinic is well placed and keen to support service men and women returning home from active service with injuries sustained in the field.
Mr Brian Cohen, founding Partner of The London Orthopaedic commented; “A huge thank you to all those who took part in our Super Sprint Triathlon and for all the many people who have supported us with donations. Personally, it was not only a fantastic cause to support, but also an added incentive to keep fit! I’m delighted that we’ve already reached our fundraising target of £2,000 and look forward to making this an annual event for the Clinic.”
It’s not too late to applaud the team’s efforts and support injured service men and women at www.bmycharity.com/helpforheroesTLOC.
