Aamir Sajjad: Consultant Gastroenterologist in Northamptonshire
Dr Aamir Sajjad is an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist with a special interest and expertise in the management of inflammatory bowel disease, clinical nutrition and endoscopy. He offers private assessment and treatment for a range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions at Woodland Hospital in Kettering.
Training and experience
Dr Aamir Sajjad qualified in medicine from Dow Medical College in Pakistan in 1986. He undertook his gastroenterology training in Australia and the UK, working in large gastroenterology units in teaching hospitals such as Royal Brisbane Hospital and University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire.
Dr Sajjad was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Kettering General Hospital in 2013. He specialises in luminal gastroenterology and is the hospital’s Clinical Lead for Nutrition. His responsibilities include bowel screening and endoscopy with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, gastroenterology inpatient and outpatient services, nutrition ward rounds and clinics and training gastroenterology registrars in endoscopy. He is a member of the hospital’s upper and lower GI cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) and leads the monthly Inflammatory Bowel Disease MDT meeting.
Dr Sajjad is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
He is accredited for bowel cancer screening colonoscopy.

Research interests
Dr Sajjad has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease. He was the lead investigator in a European multi-centre study on the long-term safety of Infliximab and immune modulator drugs in the treatment of Crohn’s disease and participated in a national multicentre study on the safety of Vedoluzimab.
