AXA PPP healthcare, one of the UK's leading providers of private medical insurance, has just signed up as a sponsor of the Kent & Medway Walking Bus Group. As well as announcing this step into charity sponsorship, the insurance company is making a donation of £5000 to support the work done by the group. The Walking Bus project organised walk-to-school schemes in Kent, through which parents can escort a column of children along set routes to and from school. Working in partnership with KCC and Medway Council, The Kent and Medway Walking Bus project is the country's only support for Walking Buses.
As well as providing grant funding, AXA PPP healthcare also work with the charity to create a challenging event for Walking Bus children - a project to be launched later in 2007.
Rosie Serpis, of AXA PPP healthcare, says:
"The Kent and Medway Walking Bus project plays a part in helping to reduce traffic congestion and pollution around schools, and regular walkers will benefit from improved health and fitness."
