BMI acquires Oxford Clinic for Specialist Surgery

The Oxford Clinic for Specialist Surgery has been acquired by BMI Healthcare, the UK's largest private hospital group.

The clinic, which will now be known as BMI The Oxford Clinic, is a specialist centre for musculoskeletal procedures.

According to consultant orthopaedic surgeon Gavin Bowden, who is also one of the clinic's founding partners, the move should strengthen the Oxford Clinic's business and enable it to deliver wider patient services.

Adrian Fawcett, chief executive of General Healthcare Group, of which BMI Healthcare is a subsidiary, said that he was "delighted" to welcome the Oxford Clinic to the BMI Healthcare group.

"This centre has a strong reputation for clinical excellence in the care and treatment of its patients. This strength combined with our national resources, management and expertise will provide even greater benefits to the community in Oxford - patients, staff and consultants alike," Mr Fawcett claimed.

The consultant founding partners will retain over a third of the equity.
