Mr Chris Young is a highly skilled cardiothoracic surgeon with a special interest in surgery of the aortic valve and thoracic aortic aneursym disease. He undertook his cardiothoracic training at a number of prestigious hospitals in the UK including St Batholomew's Hospital, St Thomas' Hospital, Great Ormond Street for Sick Children and the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham. He also completed two years of research at the Rayne Institute at St Thomas' which resulted in him being awarded an MD for his work on myocardial protection. He is an expert in all aspects of sugery of the aortic valve, aortic root replacement and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), which he introduced into London Bridge Hospital. Mr Young's other area of expertise is surgery for thoracic aortic aneurysm disease, including aortic dissection, aortic arch replacement, hybrid vascular procedures and endovascular stenting. He leads the thoracic vascular program at St Thomas' Hospital and monitors patients in aortic surveillance clinics for the long-term.
